Digital Islamic Studies Curriculum Summer Research Institute

DISC is offering a fully funded research opportunity to all BTAA undergraduate students.

The Digital Islamic Studies Curriculum (DISC) is launching its inaugural Summer Research Institute from Sunday, June 4th until Saturday, June 10th. BTAA undergraduate students are eligible to participate in this unique opportunity to develop and expand their knowledge and research skills in the field of Islamic Studies through seminars, workshops, and hands-on coaching. DISC - Digital Islamic Studies Curriculum - Summer Research Institute - The DISC Summer Research Institute (DSRI) is a 7 day fully funded academic program hosted on the University of Michigan's campus that offers undergraduate students at the Big Ten Academic Alliance (BTAA) a unique opportunity to develop and advance their knowledge and research skills in the field of Islamic Studies through seminars, workshops, hands-on coaching, and mentorships from accomplished scholars, while having the opportunity to engage in the distinctive cultural experience Southeast Michigan has to offer. - ALL MAJORS WELCOMED The program offers two tracks to accommodate students' academic training level. - Gateway Track Participants will: Learn approaches, issues, and research methodologies in the field of Islamic Studies, Develop a research prospectus, Gain the tools to be competitive in the graduate school application process. - Capstone Track Participants will: Advance their knowledge with research methodologies and managing projectsm, Access special collections and material, systems, and tools to further their research Receive individualized mentorship on their research, thesis, or career path

11th Annual Fulbright Workshop

Would you like to teach English, study, or do research or creative work abroad for an academic year at no cost? Join International Programs for the eleventh annual intensive Fulbright U.S. Student Program workshop on Friday, January 27, 2023, from 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. CST via Zoom. This session will cover application basics for undergraduate and graduate applicants from all fields.

The CTGL Student Travel Grants

The Center for Translation and Global Literacy is awarding travel grants to outstanding University of Iowa undergraduate or graduate students to support travel associated with translation projects, translation-related research, or translation-based community engagement projects.

  • Up to four grants will be awarded
  • Priority given to students enrolled in the BA in Translation, MFA in Literary Translation, minor in Translation for Global Literacy, other degree programs in The Division of World Languages, Literatures and Cultures, or World Languages degree programs in The College of Education.
  • Grant recipients work with a Faculty Mentor to create a well-conceived translation-related project.
  • Travel will be carried out during summer or winter break.
  • Info Sessions - Monday 1/30 & Tuesday 1/31 @ Zoom (3:30pm)
  • Application Deadline - Tuesday 2/28
