The NIH seeks applications for Translating Socioenvironmental Influences on Neurocognitive Development and Addiction Risk (TranSINDA) (U01 Clinical Trial Not Allowed).

The goal of this notice of funding opportunity (NOFO) is to seek applications proposing team-science research projects aimed at longitudinal research designs in animal models and advanced neuroscience and theoretical tools to elucidate mechanisms mediating the impact of the early-life social environment on neurobehavioral development and the risk for substance use disorders (SUD) and their comorbidities in adolescence and adulthood.

Applications are due November 7, 2024.

NEH invites applications to the Archaeological and Ethnographic Field Research program.

The Archaeological and Ethnographic Field Research program makes awards to institutions and organizations conducting empirical field research to answer significant questions in the humanities. Archaeology and ethnography are important methodologies utilized by many disciplines across the humanities and social sciences that provide observational and experiential data on human history and culture.

Archaeological methods may include field survey and field-based remote sensing, documentation or visualization, and/or excavations in support of answering research questions in all aspects of the human past, including but not limited to ancient studies, anthropology, art history, classical studies, regional studies, epigraphy, and other related disciplines. Ethnographic methods may include participant observation, surveys and interviews, and documentation or recording in pursuit of research questions in anthropology, sociology, ethnolinguistics, oral history, ethnomusicology, performance studies, folklore studies, and related disciplines.

Applications are due September 25, 2024.

Description: This FOA seeks applications to address the development of smart manufacturing technologies –including through “smart RD&D” – that can contribute to a resilient, responsive, leading-edge, and efficient manufacturing sector that delivers the technologies needed for the nation’s clean energy transition.

U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission: University Nuclear Leadership Program, Scholarship and Fellowship Education Grant, Distinguished Faculty Advancement Grant, and TradeSchool and Community College Scholarship Grant

Description: The program provides funding for students and early career (untenured) faculty to support nuclear science, engineering, technology, and related disciplines. The objective is to develop a workforce capable of supporting the design, construction, operation, and regulation of nuclear facilities as well as the safe handling of nuclear materials.

Iowa Opioid Treatment and Recovery Infrastructure Grant

Description: The Iowa Opioid Treatment and Recovery Infrastructure Grant will assist non-profit and for-profit providers with physical infrastructure and capacity building projects to expand the number of Iowans served by these organizations. The program will make $10 million available to assist opioid treatment and recovery providers with Infrastructure projects, including construction of new facilities and expansion of current facilities and rehabilitation of existing structures. Facility must be within the State of Iowa.

CORRECTION: NSF: EPSCoR Graduate Fellowship Program

The 2024 internal competition is being withdrawn as the University’s one application will be institutionally coordinated by the Graduate College to focus on the university strength of Brain Science and Mental Health. Questions should be directed to your collegiate Associate Dean for Graduate Education regarding this year’s competition. Additional details will be provided for the 2025 and 2026 competitions at a later date.
