ADDING AND DROPPING COURSES 

  • TODAY (Monday, January 17) is the last day to add or drop a course in MyUI with no permissions required.

  • Starting on Tuesday, January 28: You will need permissions to drop and add courses.

  • Last Day to Add a Course without College Approval: Monday, February 3: You will need permissions from the instructor/department & primary advisor.  You can find the complete instructions hereOnce you have obtained the permissions, you will need to complete the add in MyUI. Make sure you see the added course in your Fall 24 course list. Permission to add a course requires department approval and is NOT guaranteed!

  • Last Day to DROP a Course without a WMonday, February 3: For Drops, you will need primary advisor permission available here. Once you have obtained permission to drop, you will need to complete the drop in MyUI. Make sure the course is no longer in your Fall 23 course list.

  • Last day to last day to drop individual course(s) for tuition and fees adjustment: Monday, February 3rd (This only applies to students who are taking less than 12sh and paying by semester hour. Full-time students taking 12-18sh pay a flat rate.)

  • Last Day to request P/N Grading for a Fall course: Monday, February 3: Full info available here

After Feb 3rd: You may still drop a semester-length course with a “W” until April 21st

Organization Fair and Engagement Fest Spring 2025

The 2025 Student Organization Fair is part of Engagement Fest

Hawkeye Experience Grant

Hawkeye Experience Grant awards stipends in variable amounts for undergraduate students at the University of Iowa who are involved in applied learning experiences outside of the classroom such as internships (unpaid or underpaid), internships abroad through study abroad, community engagement/community service, research or creative scholarship.

Study Abroad Information Session: Organized Crime and Social Sustainability

This faculty-led study abroad program in Sicily, Italy, is a 3-credit course that explores effective tools in the fight against organized crime by actively participating in the management of confiscated Mafia assets.

Program: Organized Crime and Social Sustainability
Location: Sicily, Italy
Program dates: May 26 – June 15, 2025
Application deadline: Feb. 17, 2025

The course will count towards an Italian major/minor. Students will have the opportunity to practice their language skills and develop greater inter-cultural knowledge by experiencing Italy’s day-to-day life. While living, studying, and working in territories that are not affected by mass tourism, students will be provided with a more authentic experience of local customs.

Study Abroad Information Session: Iowa Hispanic Institute

Learn how you can study abroad this summer in Spain with University of Iowa Spanish Assistant Professor Becky Gonzalez during an information session on Thursday, Jan. 30, 2025, from 4 to 5 p.m. in 318 Phillips Hall.

The popular Iowa Hispanic Institute program in Valladolid, Spain, offers six weeks of academic instruction and seven semester hours of credit, giving you a chance to improve your Spanish, live with a host family, and explore the culture of Spain.

This program is designed to improve your written and spoken Spanish and enhance your understanding of Spanish culture and life in Spain. The program offers five weeks of academic instruction and one week of independent travel.
