NSF grant to support ITI researcher's study of specially modified materials

A researcher affiliated with ITI is developing a new method to study materials that can better withstand the demands of use in high-tech industries, including automotive, aerospace, and biomedical. Prof. Shaoping Xiao was awarded a National Science Foundation grant to develop this new computational method for investigating the mechanics of a modified group of materials at multiple scales.

'Inside the Lab' series returns with more stories from ITI student researchers

University of Iowa Technology Institute graduate research assistant focused on preventing blindness in patients with age-related macular degeneration is getting first-hand experience with clinicians as she conducts research in the lab. Brittany Allen, who works with Prof. Kristan Worthington, is among several UI students featured in ITI's 2021 installment of the student spotlight series, “Inside the Lab: Student Stories.”

Lee recognized with APAI award for Innovation in Construction

The Asphalt Paving Association of Iowa (APAI) has honored Hosin “David” Lee, an ITI faculty affiliate, with the Innovation in Construction Award for his contributions to the successful construction of high reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) mixes with rejuvenators.

Iowa Technology Institute research contributes to readiness of U.S. Army soldiers

The U.S. Army turned to a multidisciplinary team of experts at the University of Iowa Technology Institute (ITI) and ITI’s internationally recognized Santos technology to provide independent review of its first new fitness test in 40 years called the Army Combat Fitness Test.

Chris Murphy, an application developer with the Virtual Soldier Research Program and the Virtual and Augmented Reality Business Unit, was recognized for 15 years of service during the College of Engineering Staff Longevity Awards ceremony.

Brad Parker, engineering coordinator with the Operator Performance Laboratory, was recognized for 15 years of service during the College of Engineering Staff Longevity Awards ceremony.
