2023 FIRST Dean's List | The FIRST Dean's List recognizes the leadership and dedication of FIRST's most outstanding students. Students in grades 10 or 11, in either FTC or FRC, can be nominated for this prestigious designation. Ideal FIRST Dean's List Candidates are great examples of student leaders who have led their teams and communities to increased awareness for FIRST and its mission. These students have also achieved personal technical expertise and accomplishment.
There are three "categories" of Dean's List students:
- FIRST Dean's List Semi-Finalists: no more than two (2) students per team, in grades 10 or 11, who are nominated by their team.
- FIRST Dean's List Finalists: the Dean's List Candidates who have been interviewed and selected from all of the Iowa nominees. Iowa will have four (4) Dean's List Finalists.
- FIRST Dean's List Winners: Ten (10) students in FTC who are selected from all of the Dean's List Finalists. The Dean's List Winners are determined by FIRST.
| | The deadline for Iowa FIRST Dean's List Nominations is Sunday, Jan. 15, 2023 at 10:59 CT. Late submissions will not be accepted. Extensions will not be granted.
Interviews, via Zoom, will be conducted during the week of Feb. 6, 2023. Candidates will be contacted to indicate a date/time that works for their schedule. | | Tournaments are In Need of Volunteers Many of the FTC Iowa upcoming tournaments are still looking for volunteers, and coaches/mentors make great volunteers.
The main goal, of this season, is to eliminate the amount of conflicts of interest a volunteer may have with a competing team. So, if you are a coach or a mentor with a team competing at a specific event, we encourage you to apply for roles which will not impact the outcome of the tournament. However, you can serve in the roles of judges or referee if your team is not competing.
All volunteers need to register through the FIRST Dashboard and complete the FIRST training for the roles. | Upcoming Tournament Dates
