| | | YOU Make a Difference! You Make a Difference, Abimbola Olayinka!
"Bola truly gives her entire heart and soul in caring for her patients. Every day and in every patient and family interaction, she goes above and beyond to ensure they are listened to, advocated for, and supported. There's a very challenging patient and family situation with a patient who has been inpatient at SFCH for the past several months. Bola has been the consistent voice for this family and a leader amongst the medical team in leading very difficult goals of care discussions. Bola has shown incredible fortitude, professionalism, empathy, and understanding, and has dedicated countless hours of her time to help provide quality care for this patient and her family. She's been in consistent contact with providers outside of UIHC and is an exemplary person to show the love and dedication our hospital provides to our patients. We are so fortunate to have Bola on our team and she deserves a You Make a Difference Award every day."

| | Patient Comments from the Pediatric Specialty Clinic - Phlebotomy Services Congratulations to the PSC phlebotomy area. The following patient comment is reflective of the superior service they provide to children undergoing needle procedures. The comment demonstrates that with appropriate pain control and anxiety management, needle procedures can be positive experiences for kids and help them learn how to successfully cope with health care experiences.
"I think this is the best place for a comment about the LAB staff. WOW. My daughter has allergies and has been having to get labs drawn more than an average healthy child since she was a toddler. I have never seen such excellence in this setting. We were greeted right away. When I warned staff that she does not do well with labs - ever. They were on it immediately. I wish I could remember their names. They played "bop-it" offered her fidgets, offered to call child life services, gave her options, and explained exactly what they were doing from start to finish. They used Buzzy - which was a lifesaver. I just cannot put into words how much I appreciated them. Labs are usually finished by holding her down, screaming, crying and she typically is begging me not to take her to the doctor ever again. After this experience, she said "it wasn't that bad" and didn't cry a single tear. Thank you guys so much!" | | | 10 Tips for Beating the Winter Blues When the days are short and the air is cold, finding the motivation and energy to get up and about can be difficult.
