The STARS College Network, of which the University of Iowa is a founding member, is doubling its membership to include 32 of the nation’s most prominent institutions. The network aims to help students from rural and small-town America have the support they need to attend and graduate from the college or university of their choice. In its first year, STARS opened doors to higher education for more than a quarter-million students.

The UI has been awarded a $6 million National Science Foundation grant to lead a multistate project that will help Midwest agricultural communities adjust to severe weather. The project — under the guidance of Jun Wang, UI’s James E. Ashton Professor of Engineering — will use a network of sensors invented by UI researchers to gather data for forecasts that can be delivered to community members in real time.

After seven years of trying to eliminate the twitch, he visited neurosurgeon Patrick Hitchon and his team at UI Health Care, who were able to get Feilmeyer the care he needed. Campus Safety will conduct a limited test of the Hawk Alert emergency notification system at about 10 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 1. Hawk Alerts are used to notify campus about immediate threats — including extreme weather events, gas leaks, building evacuations, and other emergencies. This limited test will show alerts on digital signage and some UI websites. You will not receive alerts on your phone.

Popular topics include Excel training, Canva basics, leadership skills, project management, and more. Faculty can also add LinkedIn Learning content to their courses through a new ICON integration.
