University Emergency Hardship Fund

The Employee Assistance Program recently implemented a new service to support staff with a temporary financial hardship.  The UI Emergency Hardship Fund supports costs, up to $1000, related to an emergency event or crisis, resulting in financial hardship.  Temporary financial hardship means a hardship event rather than a pre-existing financial concern or obligation.  Read more...

Campus Location Highlight: Ashton Prairie Reconstruction Site

Last month, the Advocacy in Action newsletter team sought nominations from the campus community for locations to highlight in the newsletters. Beth Mackenzie, from the Office of Sustainability and Environment brought to our attention a true hidden gem,  the Ashton Prairie Reconstruction Site.    Tucked away near the Ashton Cross Country course, the newly established prairie is an everchanging landscape of Iowa native plants that attract a wide variety of wildlife. HOPEwalk 2021

The 8th Annual HOPEwalk  was held on Saturday, September 18th, at Cherry Hill Park in Cedar Rapids.  According to organizers “The HOPEwalk is an event to raise awareness and funds for suicide prevention through Honoring (those we have lost), Openness (to start the conversation to help eliminate the stigma associated with mental illness and suicide), Prevention, and Education.“  Read more...

The Flu Fighter is Here!

Staying healthy and fighting COVID-19 also means getting vaccinated against the flu. University of Iowa employees can get the flu vaccine for free at locations across campus or at the University Employee Health Clinic, located in 1097-1 Boyd Tower (BT), 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. For additional upcoming dates and locations, read more...
