UI scientists to expand space-based research on campus through new P3 grant

Faculty members from the Iowa Technology Institute, a research arm of the College of Engineering (CoE), are contributing to a new space-based, interdisciplinary research enterprise designed to strengthen University of Iowa’s competitiveness for NASA funding for space missions and instruments.

Latest edition of Iowa Engineer published

The latest edition of Iowa Engineer magazine highlights the work of several faculty, staff, and students affiliated with Iowa Technology Institute as well as the great work of colleagues across the College of Engineering.

Welcome our new marketing and communications assistant

Pareen Mhatre, an undergraduate studying biomedical engineering, has joined the ITI marketing and communications team. Pareen is not entirely new to ITI, having been a research assistant in the BioMOST Lab under the direction of Prof. Suresh Raghavan. Pareen will lean on her engineering background in contributing to a number of projects, including explanatory videos about our labs and research, marketing flyers, and editorial research.

Pareen has also gained attention recently for her testimony to Congress about challenges with the immigration system. Learn more about her compelling story as featured in the Daily Iowan, Cedar Rapids Gazette, and Des Moines Register.

Get to know Martell Bell.

The PhD candidate from Robbins, Ill., is studying mechanical engineering under the mentorship of Hongtao Ding, associate professor of mechanical engineering, and is a research assistant in the Laser Materials Processing Lab

“I can honestly say that returning to school was one of the best decisions I have ever made." Martell said.
