Robert Wood Johnson Foundation announces program to improve community health.

Robert Wood Johnson Foundation is seeking innovative and creative projects that reimagine land use and zoning as tools to foster healthier and more equitable communities. They encourage ideas that aim to transform land use and zoning policies to address structural racism, segregation, and other barriers to health equity. LOIs are due February 6, 2025.

ARPA-E seeks concepts to boost baseload power supply with superhot geothermal resources.

The ARPA-E Stimulate Utilization of Plentiful Energy in Rocks through High-temperature Original Technologies (SUPERHOT) program aims to support research and development of new technologies to enable scalable superhot geothermal by addressing the major technical challenges affecting geothermal well life and the ability to harvest subsurface energy effectively. Concept papers are due February 19, 2025.

DOE: U.S. Advanced Nuclear Energy Licensing Cost-Share Grant Program

Description: This NOFO will provide direct assistance for advanced reactor and supporting facilities’ regulatory review activities by supporting cost-shared grants to fund a portion of Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) fees for pre-application and application review activities. Cost-shared grants will be awarded to selected applicants seeking funds in support of work with the NRC to increase regulatory certainty, review topical reports or white papers, and other efforts focused on obtaining certification and licensing approvals.

NIH: Jointly Sponsored Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award Institutional Predoctoral Training Program in the Neurosciences (T32 Clinical Trial Not Allowed)

Description: The Jointly Sponsored NIH Predoctoral Training Program in the Neurosciences (JSPTPN) is an institutional program that supports broad and fundamental research training in the neurosciences. In addition to a broad education in the neurosciences, a key component will be a curriculum that provides a strong foundation in experimental design, statistical methodology and quantitative reasoning. The primary objective is to prepare students to be well-trained scientists equipped to pursue careers in neuroscience.

NIH: Asthma and Allergic Diseases Cooperative Research Centers (U19 Clinical Trial Optional)

Description: The purpose of this notice of funding opportunity (NOFO) is to invite applications from single institutions or consortia of institutions to participate in the Asthma and Allergic Diseases Cooperative Research Centers (AADCRC) program. The program will support centers that integrate clinical and translational research to conduct studies on the mechanisms underlying the onset and progression of diseases of interest, including asthma, rhinitis (allergic and non-allergic), chronic rhinosinusitis, atopic dermatitis, food allergy, and drug allergy. The overarching goal of the program is to improve the understanding of the pathogenesis of these conditions and to provide a rational foundation for new, effective treatments and prevention strategies.

Description: The purpose of this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) is to provide investigators with access to resources provided by the Data Management Coordinating Center for Diagnostic Centers of Excellence (RFA-NS-22-051), as part of the next phase of the Undiagnosed Diseases Network. Resources include infrastructure, data management, and clinical research support for a new Network of clinical sites that provide diagnostic services for patients with undiagnosed diseases.
