Reimagining Campus Safety Action Committee (RCSAC)
RCSAC was created in 2020 as part of The University of Iowa’s Excellence through Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Action Plan. The Committee is responsible for identifying strategies, tactics, and timelines for creating a campus community that supports the safety of all individuals, with particular attention to people who have traditionally experienced disproportionate harm from systems such as law enforcement. Matsalyn Brown is the Staff Council representative on this important campus committee. Matsalyn said, “I am proud to be selected to represent UI Staff Council on the committee. I’m serving because I believe that those who are marginalized deserve to feel safe and to be treated fairly with respect and dignity, and I hope to be a part of a positive change on campus.”
As part of the process, the Reimagining Campus Safety Action Committee is hosting two listening sessions in February: Wednesday, February 3 and Thursday, February 11. The times and Zoom information will be announced later. Your input and feedback are needed to help build a safe and inclusive campus for every member of the university – faculty, staff, students, and visitors. For additional information, read More...
