The Iowa Sciences Academy is home to a range of programs that support the success of undergraduate students interested in research and scientific communication. Through ISA programs, students have access to hands-on research, professional development, and scientific outreach opportunities. We strive to build a strong community of students, staff, and faculty that value diversity in the sciences.

The ISA Peer Mentoring Program has been at the heart of fostering community and belonging among undergraduate researchers; this fall has continued to enhance this culture with 14 ISA participating students as mentors and mentees.

During the 2024 fall semester, the UI Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (UI-LSAMP) Program was excited to welcome four new members: Kylee Harford (Environmental Sciences), Yamam Hussein (Neuroscience), Riley McCoy (Biomedical Sciences), and Mariam Nawar (Biomedical Engineering). These new students join our returning students Waad Abdella (Biochemistry & Molecular Biology), Sunny Fieser (Neuroscience), and Bhoomika Shettigar (Neuroscience).

The Iowa Sciences Academy (ISA) is proud to welcome 20 students into the Science Alliance Internship Program for the 2024-2025 academic year. This program is designed for first- and second-year students who are committed to conducting paid undergraduate research, engaging in ISA events while enrolling in a relevant course each semester.

| | | UI-MARC Fellowship Program: Empowering Future Researchers
The UI-MARC (Maximizing Access to Research Careers) Fellowship program, funded by the NIH, is dedicated to supporting the academic and personal success of junior and senior University of Iowa students who are committed to pursuing a PhD or combined M.D./Ph.D. program after graduation.
