Finish the semester strong

Tip of the week: Finish the semester strong

Semester's end can be a stressful time for students. Our main goal is to provide you with a safe, supportive and enjoyable college experience. Please use all the tools for success we have available for you:

Here are your top things to know this week:

Update on laundry in the residence halls

We continue to work with our software vendor, 4thID, to resolve issues with charges for unpaid laundry usage. Students who have used most or all of their Hawkeye Dollars will see any excess charges billed to your university billing account (U-Bill). You can view your laundry charges in the 4thID app by visiting your Profile --> Account --> History. Your Hawkeye Dollar balance may be monitored online

Running low on Hawkeye Dollars? You can add them online with a credit card or use cash at a filling station in Burge, Catlett, Hillcrest, or Mayflower. Please note, if you have an outstanding balance (or unpaid laundry loads) and add Hawkeye Dollars, your new Hawkeye Dollars may be applied to your outstanding balance before you use them for another transaction. If you have any questions about this, please contact our office electronically at housing@uiowa.edu, making sure to include your full name and University ID.

Summer housing application is open

If you plan to stay on campus this summer to take classes, participate in a university-sponsored activity, including athletic training or a research laboratory, consider applying for summer housing! Applications are due April 24 with 4-, 6-, 8-, and 12-week sessions available for you. Complete information can be found here

Move Out 2023

The end of the semester will be here soon and you'll want to plan ahead to get your room ready for inspection. We've included everything you need to know about Move Out 2023 on the website so you will be ready to sign up for checkout on April 24.

Air conditioning reminder

Anyone who's lived in Iowa during spring knows you might leave your room wearing a jacket in the morning and need to shed a few layers by lunch! During this time of temperature fluctuation, we ask you not to turn your air conditioning unit below 68 degrees Fahrenheit in your residence hall room. Turning your air conditioning unit below 68, particularly during a period of humid weather, creates dampness along walls, ceilings, and floors of your room and adjacent rooms. This dampness can lead to fungal growth on the walls; fungal growth can lead to health concerns for residents of those rooms. The temperature of 68-70 degrees in your room will allow your room to cool and dehumidify without causing additional issues.
