UI begins planning new health sciences research building

The UI is beginning to plan for the construction of a new cancer-focused research building on the west side of campus that will provide the ability to perform state-of-the-art cancer-themed research and enhance existing collaborations among the UI’s health sciences colleges and programs.

Lois Geist named interim UI vice president for research

Lois J. Geist, associate provost for faculty and professor in the Department of Internal Medicine in the Carver College of Medicine, has been named interim vice president for research at Iowa, effective Sept. 16. “I have had the privilege of working with colleagues from across campus who are conducting important research, scholarship, and creative activity, and I look forward to building on this excellence,” Geist says.

Campus can submit preliminary proposals for next round of P3 funding

Preliminary proposals are now being accepted for fiscal year 2026 P3 initiatives to support the University of Iowa 2022-2027 Strategic Plan. Faculty and staff can submit a proposal for a one- to three-year project that would start July 1, 2025. Preliminary proposals must be submitted by Nov. 13.

UI seeks Board of Regents approval for 3 facilities projects

The UI is seeking approval from the Iowa Board of Regents to begin work on three facilities projects: renovating the Performing Arts Annex, which will be the new home of the UI Department of Dance; updating the Iowa Bioscience Innovation Facility with new research and entrepreneurial lab space; and constructing the Utilities Services Building to increase efficiencies and consolidate space for facilities staff.

To conduct this important research, UI faculty and graduate students need participants for their projects, and they regularly use emails to recruit volunteers. Register for courses to build AI skills, earn HawkAI certification

The Iowa Initiative for Artificial Intelligence is offering a series of seven introductory short courses for faculty, staff, and students to build AI skills and boost productivity with tools like Chat GPT, Copilot, and more. Courses will be offered online from mid-September to mid-November.

Kinnick Stadium to host college football video game tournament

The new College Football 25 video game recreates all you love about Kinnick Stadium, and now the game will be used to give back. The College Football 25 tournament on Sept. 28 at Kinnick Stadium will raise funds for the UI Health Care Stead Family Children’s Hospital. You can register as a participant or spectator online.
