Well-Being Collaborative works with Staff Council

The Well-Being and Mental Health Campus Collaborative was charged by President Wilson and is focused on embedding whole-person well-being into all aspects of the campus community.  In support of the UI’s new Strategic Plan 2022-2027, the Collaborative is tasked with implementing the strategies and tactics in support of Holistic Well-Being.

The UI Staff Council is supporting these efforts by making staff well-being a priority for this year’s Council.  Read more...

 

Build Knowledge and Skills about Mental Health & Suicide Prevention

September is National Suicide Prevention Month. The University of Iowa has partnered with Kognito: At-Risk (a collaboration between Graduate Programs Student Government, Division of Student Life, Scanlan Center for Mental health and HR) to provide faculty/staff a helpful tool to help others in distress.  Kognito: At-Risk is a 45-minute interactive role-play simulation that builds awareness, knowledge and skills about mental health and suicide prevention. University of Iowa Staff Council and Faculty Senate are co-sponsoring a forum on Thursday, October 6 to gain perspective on where Johnson County candidates for Iowa House and Iowa Senate stand on issues important to the mission of UI and its faculty and staff.  Please join us for this important event.  Read more for all the details.

 

September 15 to October 15 is Latinx Heritage Month

Latinx Heritage Month takes place every year from September 15 to October 15.  Events throughout campus are being hosted by the Latino Native American Cultural Center, in partnership with many campus partners and community partners. Read more...

Staff Council Represents at 2022 Iowa State Fair

Staff Councilors Parade With Pride

In June, UI Staff Councilors Jenni Yoder and Anne Hinkle invited other councilors to walk in the Iowa City Pride Parade that took place downtown. Several councilors joined in to celebrate and to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion and to remind parade-goers that UI staff is made up of a diversity of individuals. Read more...

Science Cafes!

Mark your calendars for the Fall Science Cafés! This program connects UI researchers with community members to discuss practical information about health, science, and the environment. The line-up includes 3 virtual events and 2 in-person events. The first virtual event is September 20th 7-8 pm featuring presentations titled “A Tour on Mars” and “ The Ashton Prairie Living Laboratory.” An in-person event about “The Evolving Relationships Between Dogs and Humans” will be on Sept 27th 5-6 pm at Fuel coffee shop in Mt. The Flu Fighter is Here

University of Iowa employees can get the flu vaccine for free at locations across campus. Flu vaccinations started Monday, September 12, and run through Friday, November 18. Read more...
