NIH requests applications to the Alzheimer’s Drug-Development Program (U01 Clinical Trial Optional).
The National Institute on Aging (NIA) invites applications for the U01 Alzheimer’s Drug-Development Program. The program invites applications proposing pre-clinical and early stage clinical (Phase I) development of novel small-molecule and biologic drug candidates that aim to prevent Alzheimer's disease (AD), slow its progression, or treat its cognitive and behavioral symptoms. Grant recipients will receive funding for therapy development activities, such as the following:
- Medicinal chemistry
- Pharmacokinetics (PK)
- Absorption, Distribution, Metabolism, Excretion, Toxicology (ADMET)
- Efficacy in animal models
- Development of biomarkers for target engagement
- Formulation development chemical synthesis under Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
- Investigational New Drug (IND) enabling studies
- Initial Phase I clinical testing

| Description: The NSF EPSCoR Graduate Fellowship Program (EGFP) provides an opportunity for applicants who received the distinction of GRFP Honorable Mention no more than three years before the proposal due date to be named NSF EPSCoR Graduate Fellows and obtain financial support for their graduate education at an institution in an EPSCoR jurisdiction. EGFP aims to enhance the capacity and competitiveness of EPSCoR jurisdictions by providing funding to graduate degree-awarding institutions to support NSF EPSCoR Graduate Fellows as they pursue graduate degrees in the disciplines specified by the NSF Directorates and Office that are participating in the EGFP funding program.

Pepper Older Americans Independence Centers (OAIC) program is to establish centers of excellence in geriatrics research and research education to increase scientific knowledge leading to better ways to maintain or restore independence in older persons. OAIC awards are designed to develop or strengthen programs that focus on, and sustain progress in, a key area of aging research related to the mission of the OAIC program.
