Humanities Initiatives grants can help strengthen the teaching and study of the humanities at colleges and universities by supporting the development of new or enhancement of existing programs, educational resources, or courses that explore, interpret, and preserve the diversity of human cultures, ideas, and practices, past and present. CDC: Regional Centers for Public Health Preparedness and Response

Description: The purpose of this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) is to establish up to 10 centers (maximum one in each U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) region) for public health preparedness and response (PHPR). Our goal is to increase the use of evidence-based strategies and interventions (EBSIs) to improve PHPR in line with the needs of the communities involved.

DOD: Defense Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (DEPSCoR) - Capacity Building

Description: DEPSCoR's objectives are to: (1) increase the number of university researchers in eligible States/Territories capable of performing science and engineering (S&E) research responsive to the needs of the DoD; (2) enhance the capabilities of institutions of higher education (IHEs) in eligible States/Territories (listed below) to develop, plan, and execute S&E research that is relevant to the mission of the DoD, and competitive under the peerreview systems used for awarding Federal research assistance; and (3) increase the probability of long-term growth in the competitively awarded financial assistance that IHEs in eligible States/Territories receive from the Federal Government for S&E research.

NIH: National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) Bridges to the Baccalaureate Research Training Program (T34)

Description: The goal of the Bridges to the Baccalaureate Research Training Program is to provide structured activities to prepare a diverse cohort of research-oriented students to transfer from associate degree-granting institutions to baccalaureate degree-granting institutions and complete a baccalaureate degree in disciplines related to the biomedical sciences. This funding opportunity announcement (FOA) provides support to eligible, domestic institutions to develop and implement effective, evidence-informed approaches to biomedical training and mentoring that will keep pace with the rapid evolution of the research enterprise. Upon completion of the Bridges to the Baccalaureate Research Training program, trainees are expected to be well positioned to pursue research-oriented biomedical higher degree programs or enter careers in the biomedical research workforce.

Reminder: Keck Foundation Grant Program Fall 2024

Description: The W. M. Keck Foundation is inviting proposal applications for its Research Program, which seeks to benefit humanity by supporting projects in two specific areas (1) medical research and (2) science and engineering, that are distinctive and novel in their approach, question the prevailing paradigm, or have the potential to break open new territory in their field.
Limitation: Eight Concept Papers per institution (four per category) and two Phase I applications per institution (one per category).
