Today, the UI will issue a request for qualifications (RFQ) for a design/architectural firm to work on the project that will expand the Tippie College of Business. The project will include enclosing the internal courtyard patio of Pappajohn Business Building and updating Gilmore Hall for the college’s use.

The Carver College of Medicine is working with Kirkwood Community College to offer a Bachelor of Science in medical laboratory science, which students can enroll in this fall. The new degree will help address a workforce shortage in medical laboratory scientists, who perform lab tests used to diagnose and treat patients.

Madison Street near the Main Library and Washington Street will close Aug. 16—Aug. 21 for utility work. Vehicles traveling south on Madison Street will be able to turn east on Washington Street; however, vehicles traveling north on Madison Street will not be able to proceed through the Washington Street intersection and will need to detour to Clinton Street via Burlington Street. The street is expected to open at the end of the day on Aug. 21.

Rishab Nithyanand, assistant professor in the Department of Computer Science, was awarded a CAREER award from the National Science Foundation.
