UI Web Accessibility Task Force launches new accessibility website

The UI’s Accessibility Task Force has launched a new website for all accessibility-related resources and information, as well as providing updates about new accessibility initiatives and answering questions. The website is just one of the initiatives of the task force, established to ensure the university is in compliance with a new U.S. Department of Justice rule under Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act. 

 Macbride Nature Recreation Area

Macbride Nature Recreation Area Committee on track to complete review

A committee formed to review the UI’s use of the Macbride Nature Recreation Area is on track to complete its review and submit its report to President Barbara Wilson by May 1. The university announced the review in June 2024 as part of a standard process for regularly evaluating programming and centers.

Dance Marathon 31 raises $1.5 million for pediatric cancer patients, research

UI’s Magid Center gives students unique, hands-on writing, publishing experience

Every student at Iowa has many opportunities to hone their writing skills, with the Magid Center for Writing playing an important role in the mission of the “Writing University.” The center offers students of all majors the chance to earn a writing certificate and is home to several writing programs and student publications. Iowa researchers studying aerosols, climate from International Space Station

A group of researchers led by Jun Wang, the departmental executive officer and Lichtenberger Family Chair in Chemical and Biomedical Engineering, is using instruments on the International Space Station to study how interactions between aerosols from large volcanoes and fires may affect the climate. The project was recently funded by NASA.

  • Reserve a branded display for your next event: Event displays include Iowa branded backdrops, table covers, and retractable photo banners. Reservation requests can be submitted by faculty and staff via the brand manual website and will be confirmed by the Office of Strategic Communication based on availability.
  • Dare to Discover banners on display downtown: The 2025 Dare to Discover banner campaign features 80 undergraduate, graduate student, and postdoctoral scholars who are blazing new trails in research. Take a look at the banners next time you are downtown.
  • Connect with EAP counselors: No reason is too small to make an appointment with an Employee Assistance Program. Faculty, staff, postdocs, and medical residents — as well as family members — are eligible for this free and confidential counseling service.
  • Donate to Food Pantry at today’s Iowa women’s basketball game: If you are attending today’s Iowa women’s basketball game, don’t forget to bring nonperishable food items or hygiene products to donate to the Food Pantry at Iowa’s food drive. Items will be accepted from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at all four Carver-Hawkeye Arena entrances. Let’s go, Hawks!
