University of Iowa President Barbara Wilson has named Denise Jamieson, vice president for medical affairs and the dean of the Carver College of Medicine, and James Jorgensen, vice president for legal affairs and general counsel, as co-chairs of a committee tasked with selecting the next vice president for research.

Delegates from NASA recently visited the UI to learn more about the TRACERS program, the largest externally funded research project in institutional history. Launching in April 2025, the mission will study interactions between the sun and the Earth that create the Northern and Southern lights. The game time for Monday will not be set until after Iowa’s game on Saturday, but it could affect your afternoon commute. The University of Iowa continues to plan for extensive renovations to the Iowa Memorial Union, including the addition of a well-being center in the footprint of the current Iowa House Hotel. If you’re planning a conference or event and need accommodations, make note that the hotel will remain open until Nov. 3.

Wednesday is One Day for Iowa, the University of Iowa’s 24-hour online giving day that is a great way to say thank you to the programs and departments that made an impact on your life. All donations made in March count toward the One Day for Iowa total.

Next week is Severe Weather Awareness Week, making it a good time to make sure you are prepared for an emergency scenario. A Hawk Alert test will take place on March 27, and you will also receive an email about what to do during a tornado or wind emergency.

Congratulations to the Iowa women’s wrestling team on an incredible first season! Iowa won the team title and saw six Hawkeyes crowned individual champions at the 2024 National Collegiate Women's Wrestling Tournament. As a result of winning their individual titles, Iowa's six national champions will head to the 2024 Olympic Team Trials next month.
