The Iowa Technology Institute has an experienced and dedicated funding support team that can help throughout the entire grant proposal process. In order to best support researchers, the funding support team encourages all faculty and staff proposing projects to contact the team as early as possible. The earliest possible notice enables the team to best assist and support faculty and staff through the process.

The team provides multiple services, including matching researchers to projects and funding, editing publications for journals, and pre- and post-award grant management.

An ITI undergraduate research assistant at the Laboratory for Advanced Construction Technology (LACT), Brian Shanahan, has been named the 2021 "Outstanding Student Researcher" through the College of Engineering leadership award program. 

ITI graduate student researcher lands internship at Air Force Research Laboratory

Third-year PhD student Calvin Kielas-Jensen has accepted a 10-week internship with the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) where he will apply skills integrating, estimating, and controlling autonomous systems learned in the lab and classroom at the University of Iowa to real-world challenges. 

ISE PhD student to participate in National School on Neutron and X-ray Scattering

Levi Kirby, a PhD student in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering and a research assistant at the Iowa Technology Institute, has been selected as one of 60 participants for the highly competitive 2021 National School on Neutron and X-ray Scattering to be held virtually from Oak Ridge National Laboratory and Argonne National Laboratory.

Toor discusses novel approach to cancer treatment using lasers on WHO 1040

ITI faculty affiliate Fatima Toor shared insights into her experiments using light to treat a rare form of cancer called soft-tissue sarcoma on Iowa AM radio WHO 1040 on April 23.

Baek to join University of Virginia

Stephen Baek, assistant professor of industrial and systems engineering and an ITI faculty affiliate, has accepted a position as associate professor at the University of Virginia. Baek joined the faculty at Iowa in 2015, directs the Visual Intelligence Laboratory, and is an affiliate of the National Advanced Driving Simulator. Congratulations and good luck, Steve!

A unified brand

The University of Iowa brand website offers a template library of branded, easy to produce marketing and communication materials while ensuring brand consistency. Examples include flyers, event posters, invites, postcards, handy icons, and the recently added multi-page stylized Microsoft Word document.

  • Job Opening: VSR is looking to hire undergraduate/graduate students with significant exposure to Unreal Engine. Candidates with exposure to other gaming engines like Unity are also encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate will have experience working on programming languages such as C++, C#, or Java, exposure to Unreal or Unity gaming engines, and a critical eye for design of GUIs. Get to know Zachary Althof. The master's student from Rockford, Ill. is studying biomedical engineering with an emphasis on pulmonary image processing under the mentorship of Joseph M. Reinhardt, professor and department executive officer of biomedical engineering and professor of radiology.

"No matter what the future holds, my goal is to extend the knowledge in my field and continue learning my entire life."
