Iowa Technology Institute Open House

Innovation focuses on pandemic need: ITI researchers propose novel oxygen concentrator

University of Iowa Technology Institute scientists are designing and testing a novel prototype of an oxygen concentrator. The Iowa proposal simplifies the design so the product is easier to produce and maintain, and could benefit hospitals in the U.S. and around the globe.

Toor honored with Lowell G. Battershell Endowed Chair in Laser Engineering

 
Fatima Toor, a University of Iowa associate professor of electrical and computer engineering and an Iowa Technology Institute faculty affiliate, has been appointed to the Lowell G. Battershell Endowed Chair in Laser Engineering.

UI professor’s new book examines impact of whole-body vibration during emergency transport 

Salam Rahmatalla, director of the 3D Bio-Motion Research Lab at the University of Iowa Technology Institute, has authored a new book to help medical transport professionals – and vehicle and equipment designers – understand the effects of vibration on immobilized patients during emergency transport.

Epic MegaGrant aims to pair Iowa’s virtual human model with Unreal Engine

The University of Iowa Technology Institute (ITI) has received an Epic MegaGrant that will be used to explore the integration of its virtual human, Santos, with Epic Games’ Unreal Engine.

Tollefson receives AAUW fellowship

The American Association of University Women (AAUW) has awarded a 2021-22 American Fellowship to University of Iowa student Mallory Tollefson, who is pursuing a Ph.D. in Computational Biophysics and is an Iowa Technology Institute research assistant under the direction of Michael J. Schnieders, associate professor of biomedical engineering and biochemistry.

Retired Army General opening doors for Iowa Technology Institute

Maj. Gen. Stewart Wallace had been away from the University of Iowa for nearly 50 years while serving as an Army officer and later an executive in the defense industry. He has returned to become one of the biggest advocates for the Iowa Technology Institute, helping build relationships with the Department of Defense and military leaders.

ITI and OPL welcome teams behind DARPA's ACE program to advance AI dogfighting capabilities

The University of Iowa’s Operator Performance Laboratory (OPL) hosted the quarterly integration meeting for DARPA's Air Combat Evolution (ACE) program to advance AI dogfighting capabilities at its hangar in Iowa City, Iowa.
